Taekwondo is more than just kicking; it’s a way of life (Do). The “Do” in Taekwondo means “the way” or “the path.”

The Five Tenets of Taekwondo

These are the core values every student is expected to live by:

  1. Courtesy (Ye Ui): Be polite to everyone, regardless of rank.
  2. Integrity (Yom Chi): Know right from wrong. Be honest with yourself and others.
  3. Perseverance (In Nae): Never give up, no matter how hard the training or life gets.
  4. Self-Control (Guk Gi): Control your emotions and your physical power.
  5. Indomitable Spirit (Baekjul Boolgool): Have the courage to stand up for what is right, even against overwhelming odds.
